Solar Eclipse on 18th Day of War
On earlier days in recent past, it was assumed that war started on Kartika month Jyeshtha amavasya. It happened due to people started reading Mahabharat as a story and don't wanted to get into Deep.
When researchers started translating Vyasa Mahabharata into several languages they started digging deep into verses.
The star of the day, on Bhima - Duryodhana took place is mentioned in Shalya Parva
Source: Shalya Parva, Chapter 33, Verse 5
5 चत्वारिंशद अहान्य अद्य दवे च मे निःसृतस्य वै
पुष्येण संप्रयातॊ ऽसमि शरवणे पुनरागतः
शिष्ययॊर वै गदायुद्धं दरष्टुकामॊ ऽसमि माधव
5 catvāriṃśad ahāny adya dve ca me niḥsṛtasya vai
puṣyeṇa saṃprayāto 'smi śravaṇe punarāgataḥ
śiṣyayor vai gadāyuddhaṃ draṣṭukāmo 'smi mādhava
"Two and forty days have passed since I left home. I had set out for pilgrimage under the constellation Pushya and come back under Shravana. I am desirous, O Madhava, of beholding this encounter with the mace between these two disciples of mine!"
The above verse indicates that war took place on Shravana starred day.
In Shalya parva they identified a verse to indicate war could not have started on Amavasya day
Shalya Parva Chapter 55 Verse 10
10 राहुश चाग्रसद आदित्यम अपर्वणि विशां पते
चकम्पे च महाकम्पं पृथिवी सवनद्रुमा
10 rāhuś cāgrasad ādityam aparvaṇi viśāṃ pate
cakampe ca mahākampaṃ pṛthivī savanadrumā
Rahu swallowed the Sun most untimely, O monarch! The Earth with her forests and trees shook greatly.
This indicates when Bhima and Duryodhana started their mace war Solar Eclipse Happened.
To be careful this says the eclipse is Aparvani, means it is not perfect Amavasya. Either it may be Pratipada or Chaturdasi.
To support this theory they took the Moon raise on 14th day night.
So everything aligns perfectly and say confirmed it is Pausha Shukla Paksha Pratipada (Kumbakonam edition & KNS Padnaik) or Pausha Amavasya (Vishnu Vartak & Manish Pandit).
For Pausha Shukla Paksha Pratipada believers, Balarama's Pilgrimage days calculation would not fit.
For Pausha Amavasya believers, The Bhishma Moksha day would shift to Phalguni 8th instead of Magha 8th.
They credited Solar Eclipse would happen only nearby Amavasya day. But none of the researcher can prove that on the mace war day a eclipse happening through any simulation tool.
All the researchers did search for three consecutive Eclipses in Astronomy simulation tools. But every one kept silence about the eclipse on Mace war day.
They clearly state that on Katika Purnima - Lunar Eclipse occured
13 day from that on Kartika Jyeshtha starred Amavasya - Solar Eclipse occured.
They additional would say on Margashirsha Purnima also - Lunar Eclipse occured.
But no simulation tool in the world can claim that, Kartika Jyeshtha Amavasya and Pausha Shravana starred day - Eclipses occured. Instead of Proving Eclipses, people are proving the Amavasyas.
The eclipses can happen in following sets. Every set of Eclipse would be separated by 4.5 to 6 months.
1. Lunar eclipse only
2. Lunar eclipse followed by Solar eclipse on
3. Lunar - Solar - Lunar
4. Solar - Lunar - Solar
5. Solar Eclipse followed by Lunar eclipse
6. Solar eclipse only
The important thing is these eclipse sets will be at least 4.5 months apart. So When there was first set of Eclipses occurred in Kartika month there is no possibility for a Solar Eclipse in Pausa.
For example 2019-2020 Eclipses.
5-6 January 2019 (Solar Eclipse)
20-21 January 2019 (Lunar Eclipse)
5 1/2 months gap
2 July 2019 (Solar Eclipse)
16-17 July 2019 (Lunar Eclipse)
5 1/2 months gap
26 December 2019 (Solar Eclipse)
10 January 2020 (Lunar Eclipse)
5 months gap
5 June 2020 (Lunar Eclipse)
21 June 2020 (Solar Eclipse)
5 July 2020 (Lunar Eclipse)
4 1/2 months gap
30 November 2020 (Lunar Eclipse)
14 December 2020 (Solar Eclipse)
So, There is no way through Simulation Tools people can prove the Solar Eclipse on Kartika Month and Pausa Month Together.
